Welcome to the Formula VI conference and Stockholm

For the next three days, you will be part of a unique group: the Formula VI conference is the only one of its kind to focus entirely on formulation science and technology. It´s your opportunity to exchange ideas and engage in dialogue on fundamental and applied topics ranging from electrolyte effects and capillary forces to high throughput and process technologies.

We are pleased to offer you a conference program that reflects the diversity of scientific and technical approaches required for the development of modern formulated products. Because formulation science is an interdisciplinary challenge that encompasses colloid science, physical chemistry, fluid and heat dynamics, chemical engineering and biotechnology and so on, it is becoming increasingly important to have this dialogue and bring the formulation community together.

In fact, promoting dialogue is the main objective of the Formula VI conference. Our conference builds on the successful Formula conference tradition established by the French Chemical Society and now by a collaborative venture involving associated groups of several European chemical societies, including the Swedish Chemical Society.

While every new formulation challenge is unique, there are several trends influencing technology development in many of the formulation industries. These trends include the rapid growth in applied nanotechnology, the shift to increasingly complex chemistries of new actives, and an ingredient-base change toward sustainable materials. The Formula VI conference and its associated meeting Nanoformulation 2010 will update you on these fronts and much more.

Our goal to facilitate creative dialogue and fruitful collaborations is aimed at ensuring tomorrow´s formulated products meet the challenging demands for smarter performance, increased efficiency and reduced environmental burden. So let´s make the most of the long summer days in Stockholm and get started on this now.

From all of us at YKI, The Institute for Surface Chemistry, and the Swedish Chemical Society we offer you a warm welcome Stockholm and Aula Magna and we look forward to meeting with you here.
