Self-assembly in surfactant and polymer systems is an efficient and controllable way of forming nanostructures with different shapes. These nanostructures have many applications and have important biological implications. They are also very useful as templates for synthesis. In the symposium, internationally leading scientists will discuss recent advances in the field ranging from nanoparticles in drug design and hair-care to the preparation and use of nanoporous materials, nanocrystals and nanocomposites.

This year the Symposium will be the final event of the research program Colloid and Interface Technology (COLINTECH), which has been financed by SSF (Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research) during a 10 year period. Results generated in this program will be highlighted together with contributions from invited speakers from abroad and from Sweden. Winners of the Akzo Nobel Nordic Prize in Surface and Colloid Chemistry for 2007 will also present their research at the meeting.

It is a pleasure for us to welcome you to the Annual Surface and Colloid Symposium in Lund with focus on Nanostructures from self-assembly to discuss these issues together with leading experts in the field.

The Symposium is an international meeting, aiming for ca 100-150 participants, with invited oral and contributed poster presentations. It is one in a series of annual surface and colloid symposia in Lund, organized by the Division of Surface Chemistry of the Swedish Chemical Society.
